Dr. Areti Demosthenous daughter of Elder Emilianos and Elder Electra from the village Kellaki, Limassol, studied Social Theology in Athens, Canon Law, Islam and Religions in Munich, Germany. She obtained her PhD in 1996 with honors.

Dr. Demosthenous taught, among others, at the Universities of Shandong in China, Haifa in Israel, Munich, Bogazici in Turkey, Cyprus, and at the National, Kapodistrian University of Athens. She was an elected member of the Central Committee of Democratic Party during the presidency of the late Tassos Papadopoulos. She has been Visiting Fellow at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at Cambridge University.

Priority in her lectures and writings is the application of Critical Thinking, quality family coexistence and the strengthening of our national identity. She believes that the Power of modern man begins with Knowledge. A knowledge which compares itself, but does not fanaticize, distinguishes but does not excommunicate.

Her book, „Woman and Islam, Divorce and Mixed Marriages“ was published by AKRITAS publications. Her scholarly articles can be found at Academia.edu. Also, many of her shows and activities on Google and You Tube.

If she is elected in the upcoming parliamentary elections as Member of Parliament for Limassol, in which she is running with the Democratic Party, she will give priority to Social Policy, Democratic Education, and Human Rights. The State should serve the Man, not the Man the State.

According to orator Pericles in ancient Greece: The State must bear the sufferings of the citizens. But not the citizens the problems of the State!
